Cake Pop Bouquet feat. Hello Kitty

May 12 is Mother’s Day, and what better way to say “Thanks Mom”, than with a Hello Kitty bouquet? An edible cake pop bouquet that is!

This project is perfect for using up that leftover cake from other previous cake projects. These cake pops are dipped in white chocolate and decorated with fondant. They’re really fun and easy to make, so grab a few of your siblings and spend some quality family bonding time.

You will need:

·      6 cupcakes (or leftover cake scraps)

·      Frosting

·      Cake pop sticks

·      Red fondant

·      Yellow fondant

·      White chocolate

·      White chocolate chips (or white fondant shaped as chocolate chips)

·      Black food marker

·      Styrofoam block

·      Tissue paper

·      Ribbon

Instructions:

1.     Take cupcakes and place in a bowl. Gently, using your hands, break down the cake into small crumbs.

2.     Add frosting 1 teaspoon at a time, until a dough forms.

3.     Roll dough into oval shaped balls and refrigerate for 20 minutes

4.     Place white chocolate into a cup and melt in the microwave for 30 second increments until there are no visible lumps. Dip cake pop sticks into melted chocolate and then insert into the oval shaped balls. Refrigerate for 20 minutes.

5.     Dip white chocolate chips into melted chocolate and stick on either side of the cake pop to form Hello Kitty’s ears.

6.     Roll red fondant into bows by creating two circles and a small ball in the middle. Roll out tiny balls from the yellow fondant to create Hello Kitty’s nose.

7.     Dip the entire cake pop into the cup of melted chocolate and quickly add the nose and red bow next to the upper right ear.

8.     Put the stick into the Styrofoam block to have it dry upright.

9.     Once chocolate is set, use the black edible marker to draw on the eyes and whiskers.

10.     Get tissue paper and ribbon to wrap the cake pops together.

11.     Gift this to someone special on Mother’s Day!
